I like to structure my class according to the requirement of the student and for that i first ask the student to write and speak a short essay on any topic of his/her choice. This way, we can get to know what and where we need to lay focus on. Once we get that we can start working on those topi one by one. I believe in mid point review and would perform this activity randomly again and again to check the confidence as well as the knowledge gained by the student.This way we can get to know the progress of any student and we can work accordingly.
