Kids adapting capacity is more than anyone, so I suggest you start applying the practical approach to change the activities.
We can introduce things so that it should not make him feel like he is following some routine, but it should be a part of his daily games.
Daily habits are everything, and ofcourse he is a kid now, and he is full of energy, so stopping him from something will lead him to do it more, so better to change the daily approach.
