You can improve your shading skills by lots of practice, patience and enthusiasm.
Practice makes man perfect.
Need to know about shading pencils. And how much pressure are you giving in each place.
Blending techniques by using different tools like stump, cotton. ..etc.
You need to smudge in few areas and this will create beautiful results.

And try to know the tips and tricks.
