Algebraically, In a function f(x), if you substitute x with -x and end up with the same result, then f(x) is an even function. So, f(x) = f(-x). What is known as pythagoras theorem?

It is a property of the right angled triangles. The square of the longest side of such a triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the smaller sides. This property of the right angled triangles is known as Pythagoras theorem.

RIGHT: Speed = distance per unit time. WRONG: Velocity = distance per unit time. RIGHT: Velocity=Displacement per unit time. Now you can see the difference. Speed is scalar and Velocity is vector. They measure 2 different things.
