IdentityPost my MA in Sociology, I have turned to independent research and I teach children in villages when I travel for research purposes. Apart from that I have also helped UPSC candidates in preparing for the GS and Sociology papers, when I stay in towns and cities.
I take one (or if required, then two) orientation class at the outset , to understand the students' requirements. Then I structure individual teaching/learning modules according to the strengths and weaknesses of the student. The next class is a demo class. The orientation and the demo classes are for free. I also structure continuous and discreet evaluation methods, wherein the students do not need to take any exam, but are evaluated on a regular basis to measure the progress. If I deem any student as really interested in learning and above average, but cannot pay my expected fees, I also give concessions or free tuition. I have always been a champion of unconventional methods in teaching, so I would rather mention at the outset that my teaching methods involve lot of activities which help grasp concepts easily. I also provide notes where I deem it necessary, but my emphasis is always on relating education to situations of life, so activities, interactive sessions and answer writing practice are three important components that are included in the teaching modules I prepare.
