Shilpa

Shilpa Abhiram is an Indian Classical dancer specializing in one of the oldest and widely practiced genre- 'Bharatanatyam' in the Tanjore style. She has been learning and practicing the art form for 18 years. She holds a Master's degree in Bharathanatyam from Tamil Nadu University. She has undergone intensive training in the niche form of MARGA KARANAS (The research work of Dr.Padma Subramanyam). She is a serious practitioner of Yoga. She has performed extensively both within India and abroad at various dance festivals.
In her classes she prepares progressive lesson plans to teach students of all skill levels. She introduces basic body movements to improve on the strength and flexibility and get a basic body awareness. The classes also include theory based on the Natyashastra and Abhinayadarpana.
Training on Karanas is also available for senior students.
