I have 5 years of experience in SAN technology. I seek guidance on switching to cloud computing technology where my previous experience would be a value add. 1) Which role/designation would fit me in cloud tech? 2) Explain me how to proceed/ initiate getting into Cloud and which course of branch to learn? 3) I am eligible to get AWS certified, as this is in demand. last but least. 4) What would be Salary package range if I am getting into cloud? (I understand it differs b/w companies, but just wanted to get a idea)? Any suggestion apart from the above quest is appreciated. Please do suggest me. Thank you.

Hi Aamir, Cloud Computing as a whole is entirely different than a storage administrator. Your experience will definitely help in one of the components of AWS (Storage - EBS, EFS, S3 etc). Could, AWS, Azure cater to the larger Infrastructure arena. As you have administrator experience, it will be better if you take up AWS SysOps or Cloud Architect role and certification. Architects get more money than SysOps normally, but that is not the standard. You should learn AWS as a whole and choose yourself whether you want to go to SysOps or Architect Role. I, personally, would suggest for Architect as salary would increase exponentially in later stages. Anyone is eligible to get AWS certified, it needs study and practice.
