I am not a professionally trained teacher, but I am having the ability to teach what I was taught by my teachers and obviously my mom. Why are my drawing ugly?

In my opinion, there is no painting that can be called ugly. Each and every piece of art is incredibly beautiful. That is the practice that's make it more or less interesting. More you practice,more interesting it will eventually become.

Which side of a drawing paper is the best for drawing?

It depends what you want to draw. Sketch mostly requires rough side of sheet and painting mostly requires slippery side of the piece of sheet.

How to draw a detailed pencil color drawing on a smaller paper?

That needs practice. More you practice, more micro artist you will eventually become. Try to be more concentrated will drawing, don't let your mind be distracted.

Should I draw from imagination when practicing ?

Ya ya sure, or I should either say you should draw from your imagination. Let your imagination flow and paste that in form of your painting. I myself not a trained artist, I always practiced painting what comes first in my mind.

What are the best books that teach you drawing?

I think there is no book that can teach you drawing, cause that is inner soul that can teach you how to draw. You should paint whatever you feel like, and it will eventually be improved by your whole heart practice.
