Once it is printed, control reach to the semicolon, then semicolon indicates the this statement is over, then control jump to the next statement,*/ printf("\nThis is second line"); //and then second print statement will be executed. It merely acts as Full Stop for each statement in Programming Language. As . symbol have different meaning in programs, ; have been used to terminate each statements.

The semicolon is a statement terminator in C to help the parser figure out where the statement ends since, by default, statements in C (and C++ and Java) can have any number of lines.

I do agree with all of them as statement terminator. To add on top, it is also a "sequence point" which means all side effects of previous evaluations will have been performed, and no side effects from subsequent evaluations have yet been performed.

The compiler reads each line in a C program If the compiler encounters the semicolon it means its the end of the statement i.e statement is terminated.
