Now a days CAD is being used widely and there are many softwares which one can learn, from prototyping to technical 3D modelling. THE QUESTION IS OLD AND MIGHT BE RESOLVED FOR RAHUL, STILL IS A QUESTION FACE BY MANY IN START,HENCE THE REPLY CAN BE AS BELOW. 1) Complete core knowledge of Engineering either in mechanical or automobile. 2) CAD and CAM are Separate and may be not needed by all, eg difference between a Product designer and Specialist machinist (CNC mainly) 3) As Vishal in first post said, learn any single 3D CAD (irrespective of company and brand) to the core from some one with experience in actual industry and certificate if yes than good but not essential. 4) Understanding Drafting standards, Standard Parts, refer westmen tables. etc while learning. 5) Study good detailed drawings, make same 3d parts, assembly and same to same copy of drawing. 6) Apply for Job as junior design engineer or even draftsman to start, where you will truly learn that end is not design in computer but what is manufactured :) . 7) Grow and Grow As Design Engineer and not Cad Operator.
