CBSE Social Science Class 10 Syllabus

Social science is a subject that requires a student to deal with facts about human behaviour in its social and cultural aspects. Unlike mathematics, science and geography, that test a student’s problem-solving or analytical skills, social science are mainly about dates, terminology, battles, treaties and policies.

Class 10 social science syllabus is a vast one. Candidates have to study hard to score well, especially in the long questions, which carry more marks. Here, time management plays an important role. Students should keep a check on time, to be able to finish the paper early enough. 3. Democratic Politics – II
4. Understanding Economic Development

The first unit includes three sub-units- 1.1 is about Events and processes, 1.2 is about Livelihoods, Economies and Societies and 1.3 is about Everyday Life, Culture and Politics. Students have to choose any two themes out of the given options in 1.1. In the same sub-unit, theme 3 is compulsory. However, in the second theme, students have to choose anyone from the first two themes. In Sub-units 1.2 and 1.3 students are required to choose any one theme from each.

While the second unit includes topics such as  Resources and Development, Water Resources, Agriculture, Minerals and Energy Resources, Manufacturing Industries and Life Lines of National Economy; the third unit includes topics – Power Sharing & Federalism, Democracy and Diversity & Gender, Religion and Caste, Popular Struggles and Movements, Political Parties, Outcomes of Democracy. The fourth and the last unit is about  Development, Sectors of the Indian Economy, Money and Credit, Globalisation and the Indian Economy and Consumer Rights.
