Mysore L Vadiraj is a Graded mridangam artist from All India Radio, Chennai. Due to his Naada Soukhya, krithi Oriented Playing has earned appreciation from Many senior musicians. Has been settled in Chennai & Performing regularly in various Sabhas at Chennai & across the country.

All India Radio, Doordarshan, Private Tv Channels like Jaya TV & Shankara Channel Concerts,
Spirit Of Youth concert at Music Academy, Chennai,2014 & many more.

Generally tabla is used for Hindusthani Classical Music. Is it possible to implement it in Carnatic as well...?

Hello madam, tabla is best suited for hinduatani classical music, light music. Whereas Mridangam can never be replaced in carnatic classical music. The depth of its unique naadam, Gumki, the way of its approach in accompanying various types of compositions such as varnam, krithi, Tillana, Ragam Tanam... ...more
Hello madam, tabla is best suited for hinduatani classical music, light music. Whereas Mridangam can never be replaced in carnatic classical music. The depth of its unique naadam, Gumki, the way of its approach in accompanying various types of compositions such as varnam, krithi, Tillana, Ragam Tanam Pallavi, Padams, Javali etc.. The chaapu nadam of mridangam itself is a soothing & unique from all other percussion instruments. The gamakas produced by mridangam to suit Bhavam of the song in carnatic music can never be replaced by any other instruments. Though there are lot of rhythmic combinations & uniqueness in other instruments such as tabla & upa pakka vadhyams such as Khanjira, Ghatam etc.., but which can't suit or fulfill a song like Mridangam in carnatic music. So it has dominated as main percussion instrument in carnatic music.

What is the future of learning tabla in India?

A percussion player is very important for any type of classical concert. If you are a good player, your future is well in the field depends on God's grace too.. If you don't want to be a professional,then you can play for your own satisfaction to get relief from wordly pressures & tensions.

In a day how many hour of Practice can be really productive, some theory says 3hrs per day etc... kindly clarify...

Hi nicholas, As we all know 'Practice makes man perfect'. At least 1 hr of regular practice is needed to reproduce what your teacher has taught. So that you will also get a good hold on the instrument. The quality of your music keeps on improving as you involve with music practice. It depends on your passion. Pls listen to good music of old maestros too & also attend live concerts. It's also a kind of mental practice & you vl get lot of inspiration, ideas without your knowledge. We Proffesaionals, will be keep on practicing & teaching, listening to good music whole day.

What is the minimum age of learning Tabla and up to how many years a Tabla Player can perform nicely in front of audience?

There s no certain age limit to learn tabla. Anyone can learn from 5yrs to 70+ if they have stamina to sit n play.. At least minimum 2 to 3yrs is required to perform infront of audience.
