<<  les articles comme en française >>

(The articles as vogue in French)

The use of articles is very important & distinct in French language. To insert those correctly before nouns or adjectives you should have to maintain or tally the numbers, quantity, gender particular intonation or need for that words, phrases, etc.

However, unlike English there are four types of articles in French. viz:

1. un =  It denotes when the following stuff is single masculine.

2. une = It denotes when the following stuff is single but faminine .

3. le / l' = It denotes when the following stuff is masculine but definate mood .

4. la / l' = It denotes when the following stuff is feminine but definate mood .

N B : When any noun or word's initial spelling states with the vowels, then the definate articles's sign should be as - l'oncle / l'homme. Example as:

un  garcon - A young boy.

une  fille - A youth girl.

la  ville  paris - The Paris city.

le  stylo - The writing pen.

On the other side, while the above all singular & one thing becomes plural, then, in French it does not make necessary of which gender. So, for all the multiple things there two definate articles are inserted. viz:

les  garçons - The all boys.

des  livres - The books various.

Hereby, in this case, it is priorly unpredictable which gender or types the multiple stuffs or nouns are. These can follow the 100% male stuff or genus, or 100% of female or 50%, male female, also 1% + 99% male & female, too. Yet, we have to consider or think of the non-living, imagine these as a lively being with animated particular gender. Viz; 'le livre' is masculine but it's 'la page' is feminine, voilà.

<<  The use of ibid articles with prepositions  >>

In French language it is quite different than English the use imposing of various indicative or partitive articles or prepositions. Like as in a full fledge French sentence you have to insert of first - noun/pronoun, then verb even auxiliary, then object with definate articles then predicate with prepositions. But, in French language the quantity of these article or prepositions is not huge or various types. En efait, there are a few to utilize. Henceforth, in that case the combination of both articles preposition will give many utility meanings in various different cases. In short, you have to understand more than one meaning or indication through any articles prepositions.

1. à ( to ) + le = au means to but masculine singular.

2. à ( '' ) + la = à  la means to but feminine singular.

3. à ( '' ) + l' = à  l' means to but before vowel singular.

4. à ( " ) + les = aux means to the/these but before masculine sometime before feminines.

The above alls are easy to understand, but when a definate articles conjugates or amalgamates with preposition in multiple ways the new made meanings or syntax become little bit different or many. For instances:

de is here a prepositions that amplifies the meaning as - of, in, many, alls, etc.

les is hereto as articles, but multiple nouns or objects in indefinate manner.

Therefore, when they both being marged with the multiple matters, then this combination as many gives many types of intuitions or meaning through various ways.

de (of/from) + le (the) = du only in the case of single masculine, gives meaning with object, of the, to the, some or a few of that things.

de ( of/from) + les ( the multiple) = des this combinations gives the meaning of the multiple definate articles or objects through preposition. Examples are, en suite:

il viens des Étas -- unis - He comes from the united states.

elle a des livres - She has some/many books.

il boit du thé - He drinks (a bit quantity of) tea.

elle ne mange pas du pain - She does eat not a bite of bread/ban.

Alors ! j'ai fini, car je n'ai pas de temps - Well then, I have finished, because I do have not a little bit of time.

                            Au gagner en core ! à la prochaine , toute à l'heure
