Start practicing D major and A major and E major chords ..once you are comfortable select an easy rhythm pattern ..and try to play all the chords together ..once you are fluent ...go for G,C,D all majors ...the same way as above ...and finally go for bar chords ...

If you are about to learn guitar on your own .. Start with basic fingure exercises... Then go for tabs on "jingle bell" "happy birthday to you". This will make you feel tha you know how to play guitar ... Then go for chords .... Happy learning .. Cheers
