Hello there!
Play at a slower tempo than you are comfortable level, which gives you enough time for shifting without much frustration. Learn standard fingering in the beginning itself( including pinky finger). Start with easy chords and be patient in the beginning. It's going to be more comfortable and better if you take a little more time now to focus on a clear tone and pulse.
