Word Speechology

Word Speechology offers therapy sessions for speech therapy, occupational therapy, special education, and remediation. With over eight years of experience, it was established in 2019. There are four trainers at the centre: a remediation teacher, an occupational therapist, a special educator, and a speech therapist, as well as an assistant remedial teacher. The remedial teacher has a B.Ed. in special courses, a B.Ed. in autism, and a master's degree in occupational therapy.
Having worked in multiple organisations, Nikitha P Seelan, the institution's founder, wanted to arrange all services in one clinic centre for special students. In October 2022, we also started a school for special children that provides skill development classes and essential life skills, such as playing the guitar, gardening, typing, and daily life necessary skills. The main goal is to make them independent and help them build their careers.
Fifteen to twenty children are trained and taught online and offline every month. Based on the similarity of the child, they enrol for a three-month course that can go up to six months and nine months in duration. The sessions involve activities with therapists, such as play-based therapy, and no digital tools are used. Instead, hands-on materials and game-based activities are used, such as oral motor activity, gross motor activities for autism, and fine motor activities.
