Why this report?

Today conventional schools with teaching methods centered on memorizing lessons are now being overshadowed by others that encourage students to 'analyse' and 'apply' their young minds. The latter schools fancy being called 'International'. Thus a detailed analysis is required to separate the 'wheat from the chaff'. It is crucial to be able to spot the differences between a school that's truly international vis-a-vis one that offers all the 'International' facilities but not the curriculum or atmosphere.

Any concerned parent wants nothing but the best for his/her child. But also needs to think of other considerations- budget, location, teaching quality, social-strata of other children in the school etc. With so many school options available- it's a Herculean task for parents to choose the right school for her/his ward. ThinkVidya takes the first step towards helping you in this crucial decision making process. We have set out to critically survey the school scenario, to provide you with the right information to make an informed decision. The first of such survey report is on the International Schools in Bangalore.

International Schools Survey - The Report

Bangalore being the IT hub of India, the growing community of expatriates here are on the lookout for information on international standards of education for their children. Add to this the upwardly mobile globetrotting Bangaloreans, who want their children to go to an International school. Bangalore offers a wide choice of International schools. This research report evaluates these schools from the perspectives of two critical stakeholders - parents and teachers. In order to make the report more credible, we have also invited alumni parents and former teachers of the listed International Schools, to participate in the survey.

This report brings, the consolidated analysis of hundreds of responses spread across 20 International Schools based in Bangalore. These 20 schools are rated and ranked against one another across key criteria that we are certain are critical to decision making. It is important to note that we have not analysed the schools with any special focus to the syllabus that they follow. Most of the International schools in India offer a combination of ICSE or CBSE till the 7th Standard and then a choice to move to the IGCSE. This report focuses on the school environment, infrastructure and the overall quality of education imparted, taking the International syllabus as given.
