From the last experience of teaching, discipline, patience and consistency fetches perfection. Now a days, more and more people are focused on the learning of light form of dances and are gradually moving away from the classical forms. From the 18 yrs of training, what I learned is, classical dances are just not a language or a form of dance, but they are a full body toning and working out very close or similar to yoga. That not only gives happiness, but also a proper regulated physical fitness and positive mental vibration. In classical form of dances, people often comment that the male dancers are rather feminine in nature. But classical form of dances don't have any religion, and region, gender. Its just as form less as vacuum but still so complete in itself. But the grace, royalty, elegance comes from individuals and is not induced. So, kathak is a representation of natural process that binds our body and soul all together.
