the choice of woods, the intonation, the fretboard, size, weight, neck shape/profile, cutaway or dreadnought, fretboard relief, fret finishing, and of course, the price. don't go blindly for brands, the approach should be one guitar at a time. if it feels great, plays comfortably, then go for it. also... ...more

don't go blindly for brands, the approach should be one guitar at a time. if it feels great, plays comfortably, then go for it. also look for a truss rod, if there's none, don't buy that guitar.

mother of pearl is a comparatively expensive inlaying material for guitars, basses, and other string instruments. you can generally find it on the fretboard, the headstock, or the body, surrounding the soundhole. you will mostly find it in expensive instruments, such as Gibsons, martins, taylors and... ...more

mother of pearl is a comparatively expensive inlaying material for guitars, basses, and other string instruments. you can generally find it on the fretboard, the headstock, or the body, surrounding the soundhole. you will mostly find it in expensive instruments, such as Gibsons, martins, taylors and some other brands. it doesn't add anything special to the sound though.
