I was the class teacher of Class VII in my last assignment which actually made me a mother teacher for all subjects as I wanted my class to perform equally well in all subjects. This experience helped me to take active interest in their lives to bring out the best in them. So when I relocated to Kolkata because of my husband's transfer the bond that was created with the students and the parents means even after three months each day I am on phone doing problem solving for them! I try to understand the students psycho which makes me an effective teacher. For me discipline is very important in the middle school as the students tend to loose focus on these growing up years. As teachers and parents we should keep a watch on their activities and explain things letting them decide which way to go.

I was given the opportunity to teach English n senior classes when the concerned teacher was on leave but on student and parent demand I continued teaching the students. I always encouraged the students to write on their own other than mugging up the notes. This encouraged them to write answers on own though my correction work increased manifold but eventually it instilled confidence n students that they can write in English on their own which was well appreciated in school. Also I encouraged the CBSE students to participate in all writing competitions organised by CBSE Board which increased the knowledge of the students on various aspects/historical personalities/Indian culture which made them better informed citizens of the country. One of my private tuition student was afraid of public speaking but I motivated her and she ended up organizing an Assembly in front of the entire school which according to me was quite an achievement.

My daughter is in class I and while teaching the students in classes I to V my intent is only to strengthen the basics which will help the students in the long run. I was teaching in Lucknow where students are more comfortable speaking in Hindi but I persisted and made even the most shy student to try and speak in English.
