Graphic Designers follow lots of YouTube tutorials, but since they can't create a good design.

Because whenever they struggle, they want someone to help and say what is right and wrong. Even I worked a lot at my beginning stage.

The problem is, Every graphic designer will follow the tutorials and try to do the same, but when it comes to creating a new design from their concept, they can't able to do it.

The same thing I experienced and I struggled a lot for 3 to 4 years, later I realized software is just a tool to create a design, but if you know the basics of the invention, you can make anything without the software's help.

I will give you the exact step-by-step process to convert your design into a great format by just learning the invention basics from my seven years of experience.

Ancestors of graphic design know about this very well. They make themselves strong in the foundations.

So, learn about the fundamentals, and everything will become comfortable in graphic design.

Mask literally means to hide. We already know about clipping mask where you draw a path over the image or shape and then hide the unwanted areas.

Tip: You can also use Effect > Stylize> Feather which will soften the edges of the shape or image which is inside the mask, or otherwise. (The result will be a raster, the max is 250pt)

In the terminology of masking, black means to hide, white means to reveal, gray means to partially hide.

1. I pasted two images on the artboard, one on the top and another at the bottom, they are partially overlapping each other horizontally in the center.
2. On the top image, we will draw a shape (rect) which will cover that entire image and we will cut that shape.
3. We will still keep the top image selected and will go to Window > Transparency SHIFT+CTRL+F10
4. Click on the top right corner of the transparency panel and click on Make Opacity Mask, you will now see a tiny black thumb which accompanies the thumb of the image in the transparency panel. You will also see a tiny chain or link icon which is connecting both of the thumbs. At the same moment you will see that the image is no longer visible and you have 3 buttons, release, clip and invert.
5. You will click on the black thumb and you will go to Edit > Paste in Front
6. Now go to Gradient panel and confine the gradient only to black and white and you can change the angle per the need, for example 90 degree. How much portion of your image is visible within the mask is decided by the volume of black and white in the gradient panel, if you want to reveal more you will obviously drag the stop of the white slider in the gradient ramp more.
7. If you want to totally hide the black area, you will click on the black stop in the gradient panel and you will make its opacity 0%.
8. Remember till now you are in the mask mode, so you have to exit this mode by clicking again on the thumb of your image in the transparency panel.
9. You can also disable the opacity mask to temporarily hide the applied effect.
10. You can release the opacity mask if you no longer need it.
11. Once you are done with all the above steps and you exit the opacity mask mode, if you feel the need to again edit the mask, you have to again go to the transparency panel and click on the mask thumb and edit the gradient.
12. There can be masks inside the mask, for example first you may need to apply clipping mask, and then you use opacity mask and then again if you feel then need to apply clipping mask you may do so, this can be done as many times as you need. When you need to access the inside portion or the subject, you may double click on the masked object. You can also use the direct selection tool to select the objects inside the mask.

You can increase or decrease the opacity of the shadow, can decide the distance between the target shape and the shadow (which is called offset) and can also decide the blurness, as well as color/darkness of the shadow. This is further controllable through the apperance panel.

Freeform Gradients in Adobe Illustrator CC 2019

As usual, we know that when we double click on the gradient tool or when we navigate to Window>Gradient, it pops up the gradient panel, and when we click on the gradient bar, it fills the color either in linear or radial mode. Apart from these 2, the new update is freeform gradient.

One of the new features in Illustrator CC 2019 is named Freeform Gradients (Diffuse Gradients). The new Freeform Gradients allow you to create natural and photo-realistic gradients. Gradients can be created using points or lines. All you need to do is to click on the canvas to add points which can be moved and adjusted.

In other words, we can call it simplified mesh.

There are 2 methods to deal with the freeform gradient, either you will use points or lines.

If you are using points, it will generate a new color stop on the object with every click and when you double click on that stop, directly on the shape, it will give you live editing on the shape itself, which can be dragged in the desired direction, and if you do not need one of the stops just click on the trash button.

When you use the line, it will give you controls as if you are moving the colors from one point to another with direct selection or pen tool or anchor tool. Remember, we are not talking about these tools, but the controls it gives are like this.

How's everything? Diwali is near but no fireworks :(

Yes, we have to avoid to reduce pollution so I think why not we try to illustrate fireworks on Adobe illustrator. It is so easy even a small kid can do it. You are not believing. OK fine, let's start the tutorial.

What will we use in this tutorial?

• Pen tool
• Gradients. That's it.

Step by Step tutorial now:

• Open a New Document (CTRL/CMD + N)
• Select the Rectangle Tool (M) and make sure the colour is set to black and cover up your artboard.

1. Take your Pen Tool (P) and create a line with a slight arc. To start a new line just hit the Enter key to stop the pen tool from creating another segment. Continue to do this until you make it all the way around in a circle.
   
2. Now that you have your lines in place Select all of your strokes go into your Stroke Panel and on the very bottom of the Stroke Panel, there is a Profile Dropdown. It has different options of line thickness. Select the one where it’s pointed on the end and fat in the centre. Once you have the stroke profile and depth that works for you Expand your strokes OBJECT -> EXPAND
   
   
3. With your fireworks still selected let’s Group (CTRL/CMD + G) it all together. Now go into your Gradient panel and in the Type dropdown make sure to make it Radial. It is where you can be creative with your colours make sure your inner colour is white, and the exterior colours are something somewhat bright! The possibilities are endless!
   
4. Once you have the colours, you like you can copy and past the firework graphic and change your colours in the Gradient Panel. And there you have it!

In this tutorial, you will learn an easy method to draw a baseball cap in 3/4 view angle. This evergreen accessory will help you add some sports spirit to your fashion sketches especially if you are designing a casual or athletic wear collection. So grab your pencils and let’s start!

Step 1: Guidelines

Start by drawing your model first. Draw a 3/4 view angle face and leave enough space in front of the model and above her head. Draw 3 vertical guidelines. 2 of them should be framing the head, and the third one is right before the ear.

Step 2: Where the hat base lays

To mark where the cap touches the face let’s draw a curved line.  The curve starts slightly above model’s ear and ends at the head outline – right where the hairline and the forehead meet. Until you reach the vertical ear line bend the curve downwards. Then go gently up and try to follow the hairline. The line should look simple and graceful.

Step 3: Draw the crown

Next step is to draw a semicircle around the model’s head. Pay attention that the cap outline does not stand directly over the hair. There is some space above the hair. Add the top button of the baseball cap – this is where all the pattern segments join. Use the vertical ear line as a guide to place it properly.

Step 4: Find the size of the visor

Erase all the unnecessary line of the hair. Now draw two dots at the cap base. The first one is on the vertical ear line. The second one is at the vertical forehead line. The third dot is interesting – it is positioned outside of the model. The distance between 2nd and 3rd dot equals half the distance between 1st and 2nd.

Step 5: Guidelines for the peak

This is the really tricky part. You will draw a laying down “8” connecting the three dots from the previous step. Notice the difference in the sizes of its parts.

Step 6: Outline the peak

Follow the “8” shape to draw the cap peak. Pay attention to the place where it connects to the base – there should be a short straight line there.

Notice that the left side of the brim is longer than the right side.

Step 7: Draw the panels

Draw the panels of the cap and top stitches right next to them. Around the peak, there is also the topstitching. At the top of the hat, you can also add a small eyelet if you wish to make it look even more realistic.

Step 8: Add a logo

Time for the fun part – design your logo and put it on the front of the crown. You can erase the whole front panel to provide a better canvas for the logo or applique the logo over it. Make sure the inside of the brim is in shadow.

Barring the DC vs Marvel, which is better, debate; nothing has quite vexed the minds of people as the timeless uncertainty of CorelDraw or Illustrator. When it comes to these two vectors based software most of the graphics community draws a clear line as to which one triumphs the other.

Illustrations are always quoting that theirs is an industry standard while Corellers maintain that just because something is an industry standard it doesn't necessarily mean its the best. Like how Goliath was the standard of strength and courage only to be knocked out by a much smaller and smarter David.

People who say Illustrator is an industry standard, mostly quote what they read online or for that matter, talk about it on an international level. Those with hands-on experience in Indian industries would know that CorelDraw is still used in a lot of firms.

I always maintain that a design software is like a pencil. You hold a pencil and it does what your brain tells it to do. That connection is a make or breaks for a fine artist or calligrapher. The output should be the representation of a visualized input. That being said, I'm sure no one would like to draw with a bad quality pencil if there's a better one around (though I've seen a very good friend just pick up flaky, brittle charcoal sticks and churn out masterpieces).

Corel and Illustrator are both big names. They've been tried and tested and quality wise, both are equally awesome. But like DC, Illustrator seems like it has to carry the weight of humanity around while Corel like Marvel has adapted to what the market needs.

Everything aside, when it comes down to a clash of the Titans and you have to bet your demonetized currencies on a savior, here's my unbiased opinion:

1. If you work is going to be mostly web-based, choose the illustrator. The best part about it is that you can copy paste an illustration straight from Illustrator to Photoshop. It's magic.

If you want to make print stuff, Corel away, as it is extremely friendly when it comes to large-scale type treatment and layouting (here's where InDesign comes into play, but we're strictly talking Illustrator vs Corel).

2. Do you like gradients in your work? Hail Corel.

3. Is your work predominantly illustrations? Choose illustrator, as it is very good for 'pen to paper-paper to digital' conversions.

4. Illustrator, if you're the type of person who likes to take a canvas and Picasso away.

5. Corel, if you like keeping a sketch pad and use different pages to visualize and reach your final masterpiece.

6. User Interface? Corel.

7. Exporting different file formats. They'd say its illustrator, but Corel is as good.

9. Diehard print fan? Corel

10. Color Management? Illustrator.

The list is long and I don't want to keep typing forever, so I'll stop at ten (as general lists go). So in conclusion, both are equally good for all said above as I've done pretty much everything on both and it's just a personal choice as to which glove fits your hand the best.

Deep down, I feel the Indian graphic universe isn't really black and white where Superman or Batman would easily swoop down and tackle a problem, but manifests itself a lot in the grey areas.

That's why I'd bet on Wolverine.
