Leadership Quotient

Nagarjuna Singh

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to submit my name for a Home Tutor/ school coordinator position/...

Everybody is a leader if we are master of our quotients. We know only more about Intelligent Quotient, and most of us focus only on that from school days. Nobody guides us all other quotients like Emotional Quotient (EQ), Health Quotient (HQ), Relationship Quotients (RQ) and Spiritual Quotient (SQ). I strongly believe that if we add IQ+EQ+HQ+RQ+SQ = LEADERSHIP QUOTIENT.

Along with IQ from childhood our parents, teachers or mentors guide us we can lead our life so well.

We have only one life. We should live this life happily and peacefully. That comes only when we are aware of Leadership Quotient. Whether we lead a team in sports/ office / politics or not but we have to lead our family and life, and for that sake, we should come to know about Leadership Quotient.

Apart from that, we should understand about ourselves first. We should know our temperament well. There is a saying 'KNOW THYSELF'. Who we are. We are made of five elements and out of five one element dominates, and that's our nature. If we leave 5th element SPACE and the remaining four elements like fire/earth/water or air dominates us. These four are called FOUR TEMPERMENTS (you can browse in google). One should know their temperament, so that they can understand them very well and lead a happy and peaceful life.

Good Parenting Skills:

Every parent dreams of being the best parent. There are certain elements that make a parent skilled parents. Availability, Appreciation, Affection and Acceptance are the four pillars of parenting, as per the common understandings. Adapting all these characters into your parenting may help you to be skilled parents who are accepted as good parents.

  1. Availability is the most important aspect that makes you a good parent. Being available for the kids is most important in parenting as the presence of parent means great for the children. Presence of parents makes kids confident and smarter. Let them feel the warmth of affection of parents by feeling the presence always. Make yourself available for them especially when they need you. Children learn to live by observing the parents. Parents are their teachers, role models and precisely, their world.

  2. Appreciation ranks next in the array of parenting skills. Every parent should learn to practice the art of appreciating the children whenever he/she finds a chance to do so. Appreciation is the most effective boosting agent for kids, especially from parents. When you appreciate the good deeds and keep blind on minor mistakes, it is self learning experience for kids to realize what is good and what is to be avoided.

  3. Affection is considered as an essential skill when parenting skills are concerned. Children love to be loved. Affection unexpressed is a waste. There are ways of letting your child know that you love him/her.

  4. Accepting children as they are is another skill that every parent should possess. Every child differs in character, skills and physical abilities. You may not get a child as you dreamt of. Accepting your child as he/she is the best way of understanding them and defining your ways to be god parent.

Good Parenting Skills to start today:

  • Encourage your child to talk with you. He/she is full of new experiences to share and stories to tell.

  • Inculcate in your child the reading habit. Encourage him/her to read books.

  • Television can be fun and help your child learn. Television viewing should be planned regularly around programs cast for children. Whenever possible watch television along your child and talk about what you have seen.

  • Following set proper schedules for home study, recreation, meal times etc. establishes consistency.

  • Encouraging making a time table for home study, recreation etc. that prepare things for school the next day develops organization.

  • Make your child responsible for a few household chores like keeping things in order, cleaning the table etc.

Conclusively parenting is a social behavior, and the most significant social interaction we can have is with our child. Be involved with their life, know their friends and talk to them on daily basis. Doing this in a positive way makes the child understand that you truly care about them. Although teenagers, in particular may dislike your interference, but do not stop. Always tell them that love them and that your interest in everything they do is your parental responsibility. By developing the above important parenting skills, you can adapt your unique parenting approach to every child.

Prompting is a very important technique used in teaching a child with autism. It is basically the assistance given to the child to learn some skills or to reach some educational goal.

There are many different types of prompts like verbal prompts, textual prompts, picture prompts, physical and gesture prompt etc.

At first, therapist should examine the kid properly and then determine which prompt will be useful for the child’s effective learning.

Prompting should be systematically faded and gradually led the child to complete the work independently. It should start from least restrictive form to most restrictive form.

Verbal prompt which is also known as phonemic prompt where teacher help the child by saying just first phoneme or the sound to extract the exact answer from the child. Again, textual prompt are like written words or instructions that are given to the child to complete the task. Physical prompt is where the therapist provide physical contact to the child to accomplish the goal.

As a Child Psychologist I have been very fortunate to have understood that no matter what special needs children have, they all have great potential. Every child is capable, talented and has the potential to blossom.

My work is as a specialist of child development, is more around families than the child. Its important to make the parents and families realise how blessed they are to have a child. Often I find parents confused as to what is the best way forward for their child. In this modern day its very vital for parents of both typical children and special children to take counselling from experts to deal with their child. So many times parents unintentionally create more harm than good to the child.

Do you know your child's real potential? Is math, science ans excelling in other subjects enough for there overall development?

Unfortunately for a common parent its enough. And they stop there even without discovering their child's true potential.

Go ahead, burn the midnight oil, cram it all on the last day. Sleep can wait until the next day or probably the next week.

There's just one hitch. You lose 1 IQ point for every hour of lost sleep.

What's more, you will be more prone to making mistakes after staying up the whole night.

Cognitive tasks that usually took a few minutes seem to take a lot longer because you find it difficult to concentrate.

Lack of sleep comes with a bonus - Irritability.

Extensive research shows that most accidents occur when people skimped on sleep.

Fortunately the lost IQ resulting from sacrificing sleep is also reversible if you make good on your sleep

So, would you like a few extra IQ points?

Did you know that praising children for their intelligence harms them?

You may be jeopardizing their future if you praise children for their intelligence!

Isn't that shocking? Counter-intuitive?

Other skills can be affected too. Adults are no exception to this!

Don't take my word for it, Check it out anxious parents, cuz it applies to you too!

Researchers from Stanford University, USA conducted studies and experiments which showed that praising a child for his or her intelligence or skills could do lasting damage to the child's future

We all knew indiscriminate criticism could shatter self esteem

but whoever thought heaping praise could be fatal??

Most of you might be running around with destructive beliefs. The good news is that they can be corrected
