Self-Assessment First of all; assess your current situation. For this you must ask yourself some tough questions. 1. What are the skills and knowledge areas which need improving? 2. What are the things that are holding you back from excelling in your field of work? 3. What are the character traits of the leaders in your field? 4. If you are weak in certain areas of work, what is the reason? 5. What is holding you back from being the best in your business? 2. Second; answer these questions as truthfully as possible. Do it on paper. Once you are sure that you have given your best and unbiased answers, its time to find out the ways and means by which you can start improving on the skills you already possess and find ways of acquiring the knowledge and skill you lack. 3. Third; its time to implement and execute. Take it on as a challenge to improve on your shortcomings and use the new knowledge/skills as soon as possible to improve on your previous best performances. Always remember even the best have room to improve. Excellence is a never ending process. It's a long never ending journey, not the destination. read less

There are numerous things you can do, Take time to do something for yourself, upgrade your knowlade and skill time to time, Take classes to stay current in your filed to expetise, world is changing rapidly you must learn to manage change to avoid obsolescence. Learn from "other people's experience" rather then having to try everything for yourself. It shortens the time needed to learn. Dealing with a problem helps you learn patience and strengthens your management skills; it is good mental exercise. Develop a "master mind" group of four or five people with whom you can openly discuss ideas in a nonjudgmental way. Identify some "models" and observe their style and actions. Do not copy them but learn from their experiences. Seek new information on projects for which you have responsibility. Challenge yourself to learn something new every day. Make notes of the questions you want answered. Then as the answers come to you, jot them down next to the question. Never stop learning or growing. Improving yourself means that you should constantly move beyond your comfort zone. Stretch yourself. Challenge yourself.It�s easier said than done, but you will come out as a winner.
