The XAT exam is an online test with both objective and subjective question types. The XAT exam is divided into two sections – Paper I and Paper II. The Paper I is objective with multiple-choice questions on Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability – English Language & Logical Reasoning and Decision Making.
The Paper I has three sections – A, B and C with 24, 21 and 27 questions, making a total of 72 questions. Part II has 25 GK questions and an essay. Paper I has to be answered within 170 minutes. The Paper II section has to be completed within 35 minutes.
There is negative marking, 1/4 of 1 mark may be deducted on giving an incorrect answer for all the objective type of questions.
Paper I
Quantitative Ability: This sectional evaluates a candidate’s ability to solve numerical problems and interpret information from Activity Charts, Bar Charts, Graphs and Tables. The Quantitative Ability section includes Data Interpretation questions.
Verbal Ability – English Language & Logical Reasoning: The English Language & Logical Reasoning is designed to test a candidate’s ability to comprehend a passage in English language well, correct usage of English grammar & vocabulary and good verbal reasoning ability.
Decision Making: The Decision Making section evaluates the decision making ability of a candidate. Decision making is a critical quality in a work environment which is essential to take right business decisions.
Paper II
General Knowledge and Essay: This section evaluates the general awareness of students in current affairs of India and the world. The General Knowledge section of XAT exam is of multiple-choice question type. A candidate needs to write an essay on a given topic. The total time duration of the GA and Essay Writing section is of 40 minutes.
