Can anyone suggest how to reduce stress? i am thinking that i should go for meditation ...is that helpful?

Meditation is a good choice to reduce stress,but the question is what kind of stress you have?? reason of stress could be anything like if you do more analytical job you can have mental stress,students can have it because of their studies. somebody who travels a lot or having a job where he or she walks more or stands for a longer he might feel physical stress. somebody who works on computer for a longer time can feel stress on their shoulders. somebody who drives more can feel stress on his back and shoulders. for some everything is fine but have stress due to family problems or relationships. i mean to say the type and reason for stress could be different so meditation technique should be also different. For example if somebody works in a sitting position and have a back problem,he needs to consult a physiotherapist or doctor. He needs to change his sitting posture as he cant change his job. now this physical stress which caused him mental stress because it was his affecting his efficiency at work and he felt his boss might not be happy as he needs to take some rest from duty or he may get fired because he is not able to do his job properly. If he gets off from office now he could be stressed because of expense he had to do without earning. in family also people will be thinking from when he will be going to office again as it might be affecting his family life. So reason could be anything. Meditation calms your mind helps you to get away from mental busyness which might be sometime meaning less thoughts of fear about job,life,family anything. meditation put you in a state where your mind, body and soul is in resonance which is called alpha state. to start find a calm place where you could not be disturbed ,switched off your phone,make place a bit sacred by lighting a incense.find a posture you are most comfortable with,get some music and use head phone deep breathe for some time,inhale from nose,exhale from mouth. Now visualize the problem which caused you the stress,from the very beginning and focus on it now start seeing the things in apposite way and in the end of the visualization you can see everything is fine. that you can do for a week or the time you feel the most. see if you need more guidance for the meditation better you discuss with me on phone i would try to help you on this. read less

Lastly you can help your self by imagining a white light entering your forehead through sky. imagine and visualize that your whole body is healed and the stress has got washed away. read less

Namasste. Yes stress can be reduce. It is simple. If you are working professional or a buisnesmen , plan out your next day previous night by arranging the things. For e.g prepare your dress, wallet, car keys, hand kerchief, socks, perfume, your bag, important documents, everything so you don't you have to rush in morning. Second never never skip your breakfast in the morning. Third as you reach your work place or buisness place, sort the priorities of things to do. Maintain a record in front of you. Have a fix time to reply your email, plan your meeting accordingly. Fourth Develop a hobby a learn a new skill. Fifth Take time for yourself to be quiet and listen to piano. That will help you alternate your brain pattern. Sixth Practice yoga everyday. Find a good teacher. Seventh Go for your regular walks. Eight Have a pet. Nine Laugh regularly. Hearty laugh. Ten Chant OM everyday and see the difference. read less

But taking a quick 2 minute meditation is like taking a power nap on a hectic day. All you need to do is this - Just focus on your breath and take deep abdominal breaths. Initially, there will be lots of thoughts.. As you breathe out, breathe out the stress and tension in these thoughts. Simply tell yourself that for 2 minutes, nothing is more important to you than focusing on your breathing. Every hour we have 60 minutes. Stealing 2 minutes once in every hour is a very easy technique. And it does not require any specific posture or place. You can do your 2 minute meditation while waiting for the traffic signal, in your office cafeteria, while walking to the restroom, etc. I am sure you will find a huge shift in yourself and your thoughts once you bring your attention consciously towards breathing :) read less
