Using an Update Query:

  1. Open Your Database:

    • Open the Microsoft Access database where your table is located.

  2. Go to "Query Design":

    • Click on the "Create" tab in the ribbon.
    • Select "Query Design."

  3. Add the Table:

    • Choose the table that contains the data you want to update.
    • Close the "Show Table" window.

  4. Add the Field:

    • In the query design grid, add the field that contains the blank cells.

  5. Specify the Criteria:

    • In the "Criteria" row for the field, enter IsNull or "" (empty quotes) to filter for blank cells.

  6. Add an Update Row:

    • Switch to the "Design" tab on the ribbon.
    • Click on the "Update" button in the "Query Type" group. This adds an "Update To" row to the query design grid.

  7. Enter the Value to Replace Blanks:

    • In the "Update To" row for the field, enter the value you want to replace the blank cells with.

  8. Run the Query:

    • Save your query, then click on the "Run" button to execute the update query.

    Example:

    • If your table is called "YourTable" and the field is called "YourField," the SQL for the update query might look like this:
