Its very simple, Word is useful when you want to document something for future reference, so it's easy to type and read later like a book.
Excel - When you want to use some calculations and store some details in tabular form.
Powerpoint - When you want to create a project with diagram, details of explanation and wish to present it to someone.

MS Word- Used for preparing letters, agreements, or any documents in which more text needs to be used. Of course you can add tables abd pictures in word to make your document look impressive.

MS Excel - This is used when you want to deal with numbers or charts or reports.nIt is very useful when it comes to performing data analysis.

For example, you can make quotations, sales reports, inventory reports, receivables reports, and much more at work. At home you can use it to track your expenses or investments. You can even insert pictures, shapes and charts in your excel document.

MS Powerpoint - This is primarily used for preparing presentations. Like company presentations, or presentations regarding any product or services, or for a quarterly review, and so on. You can very effectively use it by animating text, images, shapes and even videos.

You can even use it to create a brochure or an event invite, and so on - although it is not the best software, but it can do this job.
