I don't have a guitar. Is there an alternate way where I can learn guitar for few days until I purchase one?

Hi Amreen. You can borrow a guitar or attend a few music classes at an institution where they lend a guitar for the first few classes. If you feel you are in it for the long haul, then go ahead and invest in a good acoustic guitar to begin with.

Its not an easy question to answer through this forum. You may get some tips on this from specific internet websites teaching music and also from youtube videos.

At what age, anyone can start learning Western Music?

Music can be learnt at any age. The earlier the better but there is no bar on learning even at an advanced age. Unlike most sports, where generally one's performance starts going downwards in the late twenties and thirties, musicians keep learning, performing and maturing even in their eighties and nineties! One can mine musical treasures throughout life. So Anisha, it does not matter what ones age is. What is required is commitment, tenacious practice and patience.

Yes, of course! In fact, the strengths of both western and Indian classical music can be leveraged to learn faster and to create a strong musical foundation. The world has numerous musical traditions, genres, styles etc, but ultimately there is a certain musical unity in diversity which can enrich a person as he keeps adding to his or her repertoire of music. It is a unique joy and adds unique value to our lives, Even the most popular bands in western music such as "Beatles", "Shakti" incorporated Indian music in some of their songs and compositions. Although I teach western music, the knowledge of Indian classical music, especially Carnatic rhythms has immensely helped me in getting a strong grasp of complex rhythms used in western music. Also, some of the arpeggios I play on the guitar remind me of certain Indian Ragas viz Hansadhwani, Marwa etc. So, go ahead! I'd strongly encourage you to learn both western and Indian classical music. All the Best!
