It depends upon whether or not the individual is comfortable being in water or if he's uncomfortable in it, or actually has a fear of it. It depends upon whether or not the individual is comfortable being in water or if he's uncomfortable in it, or actually has a fear of it. If the person is comfortable standing-in and splashing around in the water, the learning process can occur quickly. With a good instructor, the person can have basic skills within several sessions. If they begin with a fear of the water, that first needs to be addressed before swimming skills can be learned. I can generally help someone overcome their fear of the water within 3-5 sessions.
