COURSE DESCRIPTION In order to lay the foundation of science for students who wish to pursue in depth studies in the future, this course will introduce core topics from Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The focus of this course is to enable students to develop critical thinking skills, have a scientific bend of mind and use scientific terms. Using real life examples and simple experiments, the students will be exposed to the benefits, limitations and the usage of science in our daily lives. AIMS OF THE COURSE Through this curriculum, the students will: Learn to develop skills to perform scientific investigation, use the evidence available and reach logical conclusions Understand how science impacts our daily lives Understand the benefits and limitations of science as a branch of knowledge. Explore and understand the various forms of living and non-living environments and develop sensitivity towards it. Develop an analytical and curious mind that is interested in problem solving skills, gaining in depth knowledge and posing relevant questions. Use their learning experience and apply it in real life ASSESSMENTS Each lesson plan will have a built-in assessment which will enable the student to understand the progress he/she has made. Ensuring that the students are well versed with scientific concepts is an important part of these assessments. The students will be evaluated on the following criteria: Knowledge of subject matter Ability to demonstrate practical application of the subject matter where applicable Interpretation and scientific curiosity Reflections on the impact of science in everyday life
