How can I predict the amount and cost of iOS app updates when using a freelance developer?

The standard procedure I use is hourly. Ideally, give the developer a task and see how many hours he will take to finish it. After assigning work to developer, find the number of hours. Of course, make sure you are evaluating with at least developers to get the final rate.

Best to look at this - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.datetime(v=vs.110).aspx At its most basic case, you could go ahead and use two instances of the above mentioned type, assign whatever date (min and max) you want, and then compare that with whatever date you want to check. Should I move from ASP.NET Core to Node.js?

Unless you are some kind of an adventurous developer, I would not recommend ASP.NET Core.
