What is covalent bond, and how is this bond useful for carbon?

A bond that is formed by sharing of electron pairs is called a covalent bond.Carbon has 4 electrons in the outermost shell and hence is tetravalent, i.e. it can form 4 covalent bonds. A covalent bond primarily forms organic compounds.
