Oracle Apps Forms have standards... like using custom.pll etc., so when you develop a Oracle Form for Apps then you need to use those standards in order to keep the look-and-feel identical of all the forms within Oracle Apps which we customize or develop newly and incorporate in Oracle Applications. You can develop an normal Oracle Form and attach it in Oracle Apps... only thing would the look and feel would be different not according to Oracle Apps Standards... If we are running oracle forms 10g into desktop application then we need OC4J (oracle container for java) instance, but if we are working on oracle forms 6i, then the same is not required. Apps Form: In order to create apps form we need to first download Template.fmb (std oracle template) from $au_top. Template.fmb contains std libraries, triggers, canvas, Object groups which supports only in oracle apps environment and we can not run this form on desktop application. read less

apps form is build using oracle form builder as like normal oracle form but it runs on oracle apps server which supports OC4J. this application server comes with EBS. normal forms require server to be instsalled seperately to allow forms to be compiled and run.

oracle Forms:-Oracle Forms are normal forms which are developed with Oracle forms tool in client side. oracle Apps Forms:-Apps forms are used in serverside oracle applications. if u want to use the same Oracel Normal form in Oracle Applications u shold take Template.fmb from AU_TOP/Forms/US directory and start design the form in client machineonce. Once it is compled,now u should do transfer this from to AU_TOP/Forms/US directory and generate .fmx file will be using F60gen command, transfer this .fmx file into appropriate base Directory , suppose if u r developing the form for PO module transfer this .fmx file into PO_TOP/forms/US.create a Function for this form in Oracle apps under appropriate menu in appropriate Application Directory. use it in Oracle Apps. read less
