These clouds offer the greatest level of security and control, but they require the company to still purchase and maintain all the software and infrastructure, which reduces the cost savings. Apple's iCloud is a different type of cloud computing that focuses more on keeping information synced across endpoint devices such as iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs, and Macs. The data stored at Apple's iCloud data center is essentially temporary, for managing syncing and backups. By contrast, most clouds are about moving the processing and data from local devices into Internet-based servers and resources. read less

So this is just a shared storage which also does sync between ur device to keep the file or files update. Also you as a consumer or owner don't do any configuration except creating your account. Private cloud- Its like setting up the whole environment from scratch such as you setup the hypervisors, network, security etc and most importantly its will be hosted within your premise and you choose what services you going to offer. Typical example is labs on demand lot of companies do that for their employees. But now this has also come up in public section such as skytap. read less

But the private cloud is totally different form this concept, because the organizations and business are setting up their own hardware and software datacenters to promote their won software, platform, storage and IT infrastructure services for their won concern. From this we can easily conclude that the icloud is an public storage cloud service, but the private cloud services are particularly dedicated for an specific organization or business and not for public usage. read less
