Though the were others, only the English were successful in holding their reign over countries for a long time. During this period their influence on the natives was very deep rooted. Until the native countries were freed from the rule of British/ English, the native country was run as per British rule. There by making English language a an in separable part of their lives. Also as the countries developed it was much easier to communicate in a language known to the majority of the population. Hence most countries regard English as a pre requisite.
