Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree is not mandatory for all levels of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) in India. The eligibility criteria for CTET include multiple pathways for candidates to qualify based on their educational qualifications. The specific qualification requirements vary depending on whether a candidate is applying for the Primary Stage (Classes I to V) or the Elementary Stage (Classes VI to VIII).

Here are the general eligibility criteria related to B.Ed. for CTET:

  1. For Primary Stage (Classes I to V):

    • A candidate should have completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
    • Alternatively, candidates with Senior Secondary and at least 50% marks who have passed or are appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) are also eligible.
    • Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) is another qualifying pathway.
  2. For Elementary Stage (Classes VI to VIII):

    • Candidates should have completed graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
    • Alternatively, graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) program is also eligible.
    • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) is another qualifying pathway.

While having a B.Ed. degree is not explicitly required for CTET, candidates with a B.Ed. degree can also choose it as a qualification option, especially for the Elementary Stage. The eligibility criteria and pathways may be subject to updates, so candidates should refer to the official CTET notification and information bulletin for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
