Hindustani music is earlier than Carnatic music. It synthesizes with Vedic chants, Islamic traditions and Persian Musiqu-e-Assil style. Carnatic is Comparatively pure and was developed in 15th 16th century during Bhakti movement and also get boost in 19th -20th century.Carnatic music have south indian nodes & style, Hindustani music use north Indian nodes & style. music

Hindustani music is raga based music and carnatic is Kirti based music. If we see both the history carnatic is originated in the bakti movement and hindustani is originated during vedic period. And also we can say that carnatic is homogeneous and hindustani is heterogeneous. Usually hindustani music belongs from northern region and carnatic music is from souther region. Carnatic bit tough to learn as it is gamakas and kirti based music.
