To be technically precise, Hindi is not a language itself. It is a register. The language is Hindustani though. Hindi is it's Sanskritized register and Urdu is it's Persianized one. And Hindustani is a mixture of both with no clear separating boundaries between it's Sanskrit based vocabulary and Persian based vocabulary.
