B.E in Computer Science and Engineering

Because density of ice is lesser than water.
Comments

As water is cooled down, however, the molecules have less energy and hydrogen bonding takes over. The molecules form a ordered crystal through hydrogen bonding that spaces the molecules farther apart than when they were in a liquid. This makes ice less dense than water allowing it to float.

Love teaching and sharing my knowledge with others

There r two answers yo this.the density of water is maximum at 4 degrees and after that density starts getting less.so at freezing point and below the density of ice is less than of water .so it floats. secondly , a chemical bonding called hydrogen bonding is responsible for this.

Ice is less dense than water, therefore it floats. Ice is less dense than water because of a special type of chemical bonding called hydrogen bonding. A hydrogen bond is a weak bond between a hydrogen atom and an unbonded pair of electrons from another atom.

Differentiate between maps and photographs?
Maps are dynamic in nature - for example when you zoom in on a map, the quality remains the same and added details are visible. In a photograph the content remains the same. Zooming in just zooms in on the same content, amplifying it.
