There is a quick solution for you that will make it a lot easier for you to learn and use these genders correctly. There are few word endings that will help you reveal the right gender and article. You won’t actually need to learn all of these endings. der (Nouns ending with....ig-ling-or-ismus) das (Nouns ending with...um-chen-ma-ment-um-lein) die (Nouns ending with....heit-ung-keit-ei-schaft-ion-ität-ik) Now the trick here is not to learn these endings one by one, instead learn them as one word: der iglingorismus das tumchenmamentumlein die heitungkeiteischaftionitätik The endings are combined together in a way that you can pronounce them as a word. These words do not have a meaning, but contain in this way, 18 bits of information in just 3 words. Practice this....just learn those words above and see the magic. All the best. read less

Mastering german genders is bit difficult in the initial stages. For a new learner, learning a noun should be always done with meaning , gender and the plural form of the noun. By listing the nouns in a lesson, based on the gender, three different colours can be selected and using a highlighter can be highlighted in the note book where it is listed down. Foe eg. Green for masculine noun, blue for feminine and pink for neutral nouns. So that ithe noun with the highlighted colour stays in the mind . After the basic rupes r learnt , it becomes easy to learn the gender eventhough we come across a new noun in a sentence. read less

You need to nail the article if you want to sound proper and smart. If you don‘t want to sound like that, that‘s fine. You might still want to read the following paragraphs so that at least you have a choice. The German article can be recognized in let‘s say 25% of the cases even without understanding the word. All you have got to do is to learn three magic words. They are difficult words but with a bit of practice you‘ll get by: der Iglingorismus+er das Tumchenmamentumlein+nis die Heitungkeiteischaftionietätik+ur+e Learn them by heart by saying them out loud together with their article, as this is what you want to learn. These three words consist of the most popular word-endings that give away the article of a specific word. A few examples should make that clear: Käfig ends in -ig and shows you that it needs the article der. Mädchen ends in -chen which tells you that it needs das. Freiheit ends in -heit meaning that it is needs die. read less
