If you are through with the basic and intermediate level of learning then you can switch to electric guitar else you shall stick to acoustic guitar only. As you'll have to change your style of playing the electric guitar because of the string and hence the sound sensitivity. Being a classical guitar player the difference you'll notice on electric will be too contrasting but still it depends on your goal and your skill level. Also that to go for electric guitar you'll have to delve into the add-on stuff like amplifiers, effect pedals, guitar cables, guitar intonation, pick ups and their adjustments and such, to get a great sound. These things comes in large variety and you can experiment and explore a lot with these but it involves a lot of cost and time too to do that all. read less

This may look like a common and generic questions. But still I want to know whether I have to buy an electric guitar or a acoustic guitar?
If you're a beginner yes it is advised to start with an acoustic. You can get clean sound on an electric as well but I would suggest you buy an electric when you are good at playing and spending all that money becomes worth it.
