Wasim Ahmed

I would like to introduce myself as Wasim Ahmed and I have successfully finished my first postdoctoral tenure at South China Agricultural University. I believe that my experience in publishing quantitative research, conduction literature survey and guiding undergraduate and postgraduate students would be particularly beneficial to this position.
Postdoctoral Performance
My current research work is focus on the functionalization of heterocycles to form C-C, C-N
or C-S bond. Towards this effort we were able to publish one paper in Advance Synthesis & Catalysis. I have also completed one more project and finished the writing of manuscript and expecting to submit as soon as possible. During the first year of my postdoctoral tenure I worked on the design and synthesis of new and novel molecules for different biological activities such as T3SS, PDE’s etc. and we were able to publish 5 papers out of this work in Molecules 2018, Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry 2019 (2 publications), Pesticides Biochemistry and Physiology 2019 and Frontiers in Microbiology 2019. Preparation of the manuscript for one more successfully executed work (Synthesis and bioactivities of phenyl substituted furan and oxazole carboxylic acid derivatives as potential PDE4 Inhibitors) has been completed and expected to communicate it soon in European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.
Doctoral Performance
My doctorate research was focused on total synthesis of terutroban which is an antiplatelet agent. During the journey of synthesis, I handled several moisture sensitive and frequently used reactions like Claisen rearrangement, dihydroxylation, Wittig reaction, intramolecular Friedel-Crafts reaction and Heck coupling etc. Secondly I worked on the syntheses of seven thiourea based organocatalysts and successfully executed its application for Friedel-Crafts reaction between N-methylindole and β- nitrostyrene. Apart from these work I was also involved in the synthesis of analogs of apicidin A (cyclic peptide), inhibitor of histone deacetylases.
Industrial Performance
After successfully finishing my doctorate program I was associated with Clearsynth labs. as a "Research Associate" and I worked in the R&D department for the synthesis and modification of some existing drugs and their impurities for almost 2 years.
Currently I am associated with GVK Biosciences Pvt. Ltd. as “Associate Scientist”.
