IELTS
International English Language Testing System

It is the world’s most popular high stakes English Language Proficiency Test for study, work and migration to English speaking countries. It assesses all of the English skills--- Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. It is designed to reflect the candidate will use English at study, at work and at play in new life of abroad.

There are 2 types of IELTS tests:
1. IELTS Academic (candidates applying for higher education)
2. IELTS General (candidates applying for permanent residency or work permit)


Both the exams consist of four modules:
1. Listening
2. Reading
3. Writing
4. Speaking

WRITING (60 minutes)

In IELTS writing candidate has to attempt 2 tasks namely Task1 and Task 2.

                                Task 2 (40 minutes)
In IELTS Academic and General Task 2 students have to write an essay.


Total time suggested for Task 1 to complete is 40mins wherein, 5 minutes should be given to planning, 25-30 minutes to write and last 5 minutes to proofread.

 

Word count should be minimum 250 for Task 1 and maximum should go up till 285(suggested).

Always make 4 or 5 paragraphs in Task 2.


1. First Paragraph--- is known as Introduction.
Introduction is divided into 3 parts:
General line Over here the students are expected to write any line related to the topic. (optional)
Paraphrasing This means rephrasing the given statement by using synonyms without changing the
meaning.

Thesis statement This require the students to answer the given question clearly.

2. Second Paragraph--- is known as Body Paragraph 1/ Content Paragraph 1.

Body paragraph is divided into 4 parts:

Central idea In this the topic statement is introduced i.e. the main idea.
Sub ideas Explanation of central idea involves many sub ideas.
Justification This means giving example in order to justify the central idea and main idea.
Conclusion Mention the concluding statement here.(optional)

3. Third Paragraph--- is known as Body Paragraph 2/ Content Paragraph 2.

Body paragraph is divided into 4 parts:

4. Fourth Paragraph--- is known as Body Paragraph 3/ Content Paragraph 3.(optional)

Justification This means giving example in order to justify the central idea and main idea.

5. Third Paragraph--- is known as Conclusion.

Conclusion is divided into two parts:
