Both the languages has a wide market presence, Java has larger market share if you really compare. 

Basics of programming that you learn will be same for any language. It is just that one language will be more suitable for a use case and other will be less suitable. Also if you are a job seeker, find out which firms are using which language majorly and go accordingly. 

Like I said go with which you seem easy for you to dive deeper into. That is all that matters.

Both programming languages are the best and these developers demand high, but Java developers demand higher than . Net developers. Java is a platform independent programming language, it provides the better security features.
