it depends on what do you mean by yoga, yoga is not just asanas. so if you mean yoga for asanas then it is better to have a practical instructor. but if you think yoga is more spiritual and deep then you have to walk on your own path to self enquiry but still you may need some assistance to show the proper way, either it may be a book or a person or anything.
