Methods to Solve any Engineering Problems:

- Analytical Method

- Experimental Method

- Numerical Method

Different Numerical Merhods:

- Finite Element Method

- Finite Volume Method

- Boundary Element Method

- Finite Difference Method

DOF:

Minimum number of parameters requried to completely define the position of an entity in free space called Degree of freedom.

Why do we mesh out parts in FEA?

Theory behind is to make calculation at only limted number of points andthen interpolate to the entire domain.

Advantages of FEA:

- High Visualization

- Lesser Design Cycle time

- Lesser no. of prototypes

- Lesser testing

- Optimum Design

Why Tria Elements are restricted near critical areas?

Tria elements are more stiffer than quad elements, so that will fetch results in lesser stress or displacements. Quad elements are chosen near critical areas to get better accurate results.

GUIDELINES:

  • Follow the angle of Projection.
  • Not necessary to provide 3-views, if two views are sufficient to cover all details
  • The orientation of the parts shall be shown inline concerning actual assembly.
  • Extension lines of one dimension shall not cross the other dimension.
  • Dimension lines shall be shown in line with the dimensions shown in the base view.
  • No repetition of dimension.
  • Typical dimensions (Typ.), applicable only for symmetrical parts about any axis.
  • Avoid redundant dimensions; if unavoidable, use REF.
  • Diameter dimensions shall always be shown with the view, where the entire circularity is seen.
  • If the part has many numbers of holes, then it is good to show with notations like ax5 (a type hole 5 Nos)
  • Critical dimensions are shown with **
  • Theoretical exact dimensions shall be enclosed with a rectangular border.
  • Slot dimension shall be marked with outer size in the order of the X and Y-axis direction. Ex: Slot 50x10 mean slot whose external dimension of 50mm lengthwise and 10mm along the Y-axis
  • Leave a standard gap of 1.5mm between part and dimension lines.
  • Use the appropriate feature frame.
  • Blank development, if any, shall be shown so that the user can easily interpret it.

PRECISION AND ACCURACY
The performance of a measuring instrument is represented by the terms precision and accuracy. A good instrument must be precise and accurate.
PRECISION
The precision of an instrument is the extent to which the instrument repeats its result while making repeat measurements on the same unit of product. It is the repeatability of the measuring process. It refers to the repeat measurement for the same unit of product under identical condition. It indicates to what extent the identically performed measurement agrees with each other. If the instrument is not precise it will give widely varying results for the same dimension when measured again and again. The set of observations will scatter about the mean. The scatter of these measurements is designated as (= the standard deviation) it is used as an index of precision. The less the scattering the more precise is the measurement. Thus lower the value of the more precise is the measurement.
ACCURACY
Accuracy of an instrument is the extent to which the average of a long series of repeat measurements made on the same unit of a product differs from the true value of the product. The difference between the true value and the measured value is known as the error of measurement.
It is practically difficult to measure exactly the true value. Therefore a set of observations is made whose mean value is taken as the true value of the quality measured.

Out my experience in IT industry for last 2 decades, I am putting down the pros and cons.

B.Tech with M.Tech and further Ph D will help you further rather than trying in Software Industry as you are already in academic line. Yes it would be better if you choose a Software Company related to Mechanical Field it will be a plus point.

If you are in a company not related to Mechanical field, after getting 20-25 years of experience if you again choose acadamics then Industry experience will not be taken into consideration. Again you will earn the same income as fresher since you do not have teaching experience.

All the best.

To become a successful person you must have some goals in your career. It can be easy to achieve your goals if you have well-defined goals that can be achieved in the defined time duration. These goals will help you to navigate through a career in a well-defined manner. IT industry is more complicated as it involves your own skills plus customers satisfaction. Pursuing a career in IT industry requires you to have a proper framing of your career.

How to Set a Career Goal?

There are some really important things that you should know before setting a goal. Decide honestly what you want to do in a long-term. Split your major goal into smaller and time-bound achievable goals. IT people work with a team so before setting your goals you may need to consider the contribution of your colleagues and seniors while setting a goal.

Qualifications and work skills requirements, finances, time and type of networking also needs to be taken into consideration.

In short, all your goals must be achievable, relevant and time-bound.

Achieving your goals:

Once you decided your goal you need to create a proper plan for achieving your goal. The best approach is to follow a step by step approach. This plan should state each and every step you have to take from start to finish.

Work on your technical skills if you are lacking in any technical skill overcome each and every shortcoming. If there is a requirement to learn some new skills for achieving your goals just learn it.

Always aim a high quality of your work, make a habit to remove bugs at the initial level.

Improve communication skills that are necessary to communicate your ideas to clients and team members.

Always use proper documentation at each level so that everyone can easily understand your intention behind particular action this includes code documentation and external documentation.

Take feedback from all possible sources like from your manager, feedback from your colleagues to achieve your goals fast. Try to work in a highly positive environment with your immediate boss.

If you are in IT industry, it is must to know that feedback and criticism are the important part. Once you have set a goal include all opinions good or bad in consideration. Take criticism as a chance to improve and take it on board to resolve the issues. Respond positively as positive approach can actually work in your favour.

IT field requires some additional skills while setting and achieving your goals. That is you need to distinguish between your own performance and capabilities plus the opportunities are provided to you to grow. If you are in a company that gives position boost you should focus on achieving higher positions in the company or if you want to achieve higher salaries you need to switch from one company to another after certain duration to maximize the opportunities and skills. In all, it is up to what is your career goal in IT industries and how you want to achieve them.
