Teaching Patience to children is as important as educating them.

To teach any behaviour to a child, always follow these steps.

  1. Children Follow /mirror you, so you need to demonstrate the same behaviour. Observe what a trigger point for your kid that makes him impatient is. For example, if your child asks for your cell phone and throws tantrums if you do not give immediately, then start with the same incident where you ask the cell phone to your spouse, and you wait, and your spouse should appreciate your waiting. Please do this in front of your child, so he notices behaviours.
  2. Use Puzzle game: Putting together pieces of puzzle teaches a lot, right from putting in efforts and enjoying the results later.
  3. Delay Gratification: make sure you ask your kid to wait whenever he demands anything from you. Explain to him why you ask to wait (even you can start as small as making to wait 2 minutes in the beginning), appreciate your child if he waits and rewards his good behaviours. But don't reward with cash/ gifts/ games as this will build wrong values. You can reward with your hug, telling a story, playing a game with your kid.

Most crucial; don't focus on what you can't do; appreciate all the good he does.
