In Microsoft SQL Server, you can save a database diagram using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Follow these steps to save a database diagram:

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS):

    • Launch SQL Server Management Studio and connect to the database server where your database is located.
  2. Navigate to the Database Diagrams:

    • In the Object Explorer, expand the database for which you want to save the diagram.
    • Navigate to the "Database Diagrams" node.
  3. Open or Create a Database Diagram:

    • If you already have a database diagram, double-click on it to open it.
    • If you don't have a diagram yet, you can right-click on "Database Diagrams" and choose "New Database Diagram" to create a new one.
  4. Arrange and Design the Diagram:

    • Arrange tables, add relationships, and design the diagram according to your requirements.
  5. Save the Database Diagram:

    • After arranging and designing the diagram, go to the "File" menu.
    • Select "Save [Diagram Name]" or "Save Diagram As..." depending on whether it's an existing diagram or a new one.
    • If you choose "Save Diagram As...", you can provide a name for the diagram.
  6. Specify Table Changes (Optional):

    • If you made changes to the structure of tables or relationships, you might be prompted to save these changes. Confirm the changes to save them to the database.
  7. Review and Close:

    • Review the summary of changes, if applicable.
    • Click "Close" to exit the Database Diagram designer.

The saved database diagram will be available under the "Database Diagrams" node in the Object Explorer. You can later open it, modify it, or generate SQL scripts from it as needed.

Keep in mind that database diagrams are primarily a design and visualization tool and may not cover all aspects of database objects and features. Additionally, saving a diagram doesn't save the entire database structure; it only saves the visual representation of the diagram and its associated metadata. If you need to script out the entire database schema, you may want to use other features such as the "Generate Scripts" wizard in SSMS.

I need your help to choose my career as I have three years of gap between my education. I know SQL. Can anyone tell me should I choose MS SQL server or oracle because I am interested in the database? Which one will be better to learn to get into the IT industry? Please help me! Thank you!
As you are strong and interested in SQL, why not to choose ETL Testing? It has a good career ahead in data projects. To survive in the market, you need both Oracle & SQL Server. Actually, both are almost same but are different products.
