PTE Writing

Next to PTE Speaking exam, comes the Writing test where students have to complete the following two kinds of questions:

a) Summarize the written text

b) Essay Writing

Summarize the written text

For this you have to write the summary of a given text in only one sentence. Begin the single sentence summary you will write with a capital letter and do end with a full stop. Use keywords, terminologies and jargons from the given text in your summary to create relevance.
The word limit of summary in PTE writing section should be between 30-50 words.

a) Frame the entire summary in third person. Do not use words like I, We or Us. Also, you only have ro express the idea of the given text. Do not club personal opinions/thoughts.

b) Do spare a minute time, after completing your summary writing, to cross check spelling, grammar and punctuation of your content. Silly mistake in these can lead to a loss in score.

c) As mentioned earlier, you can only use one sentence to summarize the body of the given text. This will lessen your scope of using different kinds of punctuation in the content.

Essay Writing in PTE exam

You have to write an argumentative/opinion essay in 200-300 words.

Time management in Essay Writing of PTE exam:

For essay writing in PTE exam, you should consider the following key-points:

a) Time duration allotted for the essay writing task

b) Word limit allotted for the essay writing task

c) Subject/main topic to cover in the PTE essay

d) The point of view or element of the subject that you have to cover in the PTE essay

Its important to pay attention to the above key points and develop likewise PTE write-ups for PTE Writing section in order to ensure good score.

The PTE Writing exam has no scope of negative marking.

Tips for Essay Writing in PTE exam

a) Read the question of essay task thoroughly to understand the mood of your essay – opinion or argument. You necessarily need to follow the idea expressed in the essay question and not change this while framing the PTE essay.

b) While writing the PTE essay, stick to the primitive structure of Intro, Body and Conclusion.
Experimenting with hour glass or inverted pyramid structure in PTE essay writing can lead to loss of score.

c) At times, the PTE essay topic can be a question. In that case, you do not have to elaborate on the issue being discussed but expand your focus on the remedy to the given problem.
