Soreness after yoga is normal, but extreme pain and discomfort after yoga aren't normal or beneficial. If you're dealing with extreme pain after a yoga class on a regular basis, there's a good chance you're overextending your muscles or doing the poses incorrectly.

Yes, its normal to feel pain in body after doing yoga, as yoga is also an exercise and like in start of any exercise your body tends to undergo some amount of pain which with times subsides. Yoga involves body poses from simple ones to hard ones and if you are not flexible enough, your body will receive some pain and as with time your flexibility will increase, the pain will reduce subsequently. So don't give up at start and give some time for your body to adapt yoga exercises.

Even if you are not a beginner, but you are trying a hard yoga pose, your joints or other body parts involved might face some body ache for a couple of days. Just give proper amount of rest to your body, after which only continue with those poses. If your health conditions doesn't allow you to practice any exercise then do take a pause for some time to get back in proper shape and then only start practising yoga. Also if the pain continues even after weeks of starting yoga, I recommend a health check up and if any serious health conditions arises, you must practice yoga only after consulting your doctor and your coach.
